The Story: (5.4/10)
Basically the story is about a young guy and his sister who get transported to another realm to help save that world from doom. Sound familiar? Anyways, during his time there he meets various warriors (those of the female nature), and they band together to beat said evil. Again, sound familiar…? Though unoriginal at best, as the old saying goes; “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” This certainly is the case for DSJ. While unoriginal, it certainly is amusing and fun.

The Cast: (8.8/10)
Each character in DSJ are relatively unique and each have their own flaws and strengths. Each character also has their own unique story and personality, making it easy to understand each character and their actions, thoughts, and feelings, which is always important in any Visual Novel…. well, in most cases anyways.

The Gameplay: (9.1/10)
DSJ switches between Side-scrolling RPG action to your standard point and click Visual Novel choices. The choices are easy to make, seeing as you can see the character that’s there on the screen, so you never really have to guess what choice will lead to what character. The RPG element is easy to understand, as well as how EXP is earned, in the form of crystals. Earning enough crystals will land you another Level. The game also lets you choose a difficulty, which makes things easier for the newer players and veterans alike. You can do this while in game as well, making the game almost perfect as far as difficulty settings go. I say ALMOST perfect, because in most cases, you’ll find someone setting it to very easy just to breeze through the game. Not that I can blame them, but that does take half the fun out, but who am I to complain. I did the same thing…

The H: (4.3/10)
Yes, the thing we seek for most in a Visual Novel, besides the story. To make it short; There isn’t much of it, but it’s still good when it does come around to it. Shouldn’t leave too many people complaining.

The Difficulty: (9.5/10)
- The RPG side of things: Depends on how you wish to play. Since you have the choice of difficulty, ranging from Very Easy to Hard, it’s hard to say the game is too easy or the game is too hard.
- The Visual Novel side of things: Also rather easy. When at the town map, you’ll see the characters standing next to each point. This doesn’t leave you guessing on where you need to go for certain character scenes. There is verbal choices to make though, but the old “save before choosing” helps, as the facial expressions and events there after make it obvious on whether it was a bad or good choice.

Replayability: (7.6/10)
Since there is a variety of ladies to go after in this game, you’ll find yourself playing again and again to get all the scenes. Not only that, but if you want to understand the whole story, you’ll have to play through ALL the scenarios.

Conclusion: (7.45/10)
The game is easy as far as difficulty is concerned, but the AI can be frustrating, and seeing as you have to go through ALL scenarios to understand the whole story can make the game rather tedious at times. The RPG elements are fun, but can be rather repetitive. You’ll be able to understand some of the game if you don’t know any Japanese, but not most of it. All in all, the game is good, and if you enjoy a game with some RPG elements with a decent story, you’ll probably like this one.

I guess to get started, I’ll tell you a bit about myself. Firstly, like Kage, I am a fan of that which is anime. Basically, I’m an Otaku. My hobbies are watching anime, playing games, reading, writing, and drawing when I don’t suck at it. As far as writing is concerned, I enjoy writing reviews, reviews on games to be more precise, which brings me to my next part of this article; What I plan to do at Moe Life.

While I will be posting news on anime culture and the like, my main focus will be to try and post a review of a game that I am playing. These games will range in genre, but will most likely be that of the Visual Novel/Eroge genre, since this is a anime blog, and I feel such a topic would fit in nicely with said blog. Later, I move from writing, to short animated commentaries, but we’ll have to see. I’m a busy person, so that happening is slim, since we do have other things planned for Moe Life.

With all this being said, I hope you will all enjoy reading our articles at Moe Life, as much as we enjoy writing them.

Until now, Moe Life has been my personal blog, but I’m choosing instead to forsake that and go the route of a news blog, with multiple writers and creators all inputting the latest in the news that matters to them. We’re unsure as to how many writers we’ll have, but at this point it’s about quality, not quantity.
